Other Ways to Help
Donate Food
Every Loblaws and Metro store in our region has a red bin situated near the check-out area for non-perishable Ottawa Food Bank donations.
Donate Money
Raising money is an important part of our work. Without financial contributions we could not put fuel in our trucks, operate our warehouse or make large wholesale food purchases. Last year, the Ottawa Food Bank spent over $1,000,000 on food purchases to supplement the donated food that we distribute.
As a result of careful budgeting, bulk food purchases and a tremendous volunteer force, we are proud that each dollar donated to the Ottawa Food Bank allows us to generate five dollars worth of food into the community.
We are always grateful to accept financial contributions, whatever the amount, as we can only help the community as much as the community allows us to. Tax receipts are issued for monetary donations of $10 or more. Donate securely online.
Food Industry Donations
Food industry donations play a key role in the success of the Ottawa Food Bank. We will gladly accept both large and small quantities of food products. Contact Gary McCarthy, Operations Manager, by email at
or by phone at 613-745-7001 for more information or to arrange a food industry donation.

"Helping the Hungry" is published twice a year by Caring Hands Publishing. Please call 613-225-7535 for information.
In-Kind Contribution
We are fortunate to live in a community where many businesses and individuals possess skills and/or products that can benefit our organization. Donated computers and software, warehouse equipment, computer support, and design and printing services are just some of the things that allow us to operate at the level we do. Should you have a skill, service or product that you would like to offer in the fight against hunger we would be delighted to hear from you.
Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges
Turn your inkjet cartridges into food by donating them for recycling. Started in 2002, this popular program has great environmental benefits. Call us for more information!
Recycle Your Old Cell Phone
The Food Bank receives up to $4 for every used cell phone donated to this program. The phones are then refurbished and resold worldwide. Phones for Food keeps harmful chemicals from landfill sites and raises badly needed funds for food banks across Canada. Phones can be placed in the Ottawa Food Bank's red donation bins at area Metro, Loblaws and Your Independent Grocery stores.
