Ottawa Food Bank

Food Bank History

The Ottawa Food Bank was founded on May 16, 1984, originally as "Provisions Ottawa", and was created to serve the most vulnerable in our community during their time of need.

Now in our 25th year, we still breathe the words of our founding members - "Hunger erodes human dignity, lessens human energy and impairs potential" - and work hard every day to fight hunger across the National Capital Region.

The Ottawa Food Bank has certainly grown over the years and now helps 43,000 people a month through 135+ social service agencies.
